Sam Henderson was born in Odessa, Texas. He married and moved to the Katy area in 1980 as a resident of Williamsburg Colony. Sam has 3 daughters and 6 grandchildren.

Sam has lived in the District with his family for 40 years. His grandchildren are regular fixtures at open houses of the fire station. Sam got his start with the Katy Fire Department then moved on to the West I-10 station where he worked under several administrations.

Sam has since retired but is still active with the team as a commissioner. He was elected to the HCESD 48 Board of Directors in 2014. He is currently working on strategic plan to keep the District moving forward as the area continues to grow.
